Over 7,200 students take entrance exam at Panama Technological University

A total of 7,227 students nationwide participated in the first Academic Aptitude Test (PAA) for 2026, vying for a spot at the Technological University of Panama (UTP). The examination took place on Saturday, August 1, according to Martín Peralta, the national director of the University Admission System (SIU).

Of the aspiring students, 4,237 took the test at the main Campus Dr. Víctor Levi Sasso, while the remaining 2,990 were distributed across the university's various regional centers. Peralta indicated that the UTP anticipates approximately 60% of these students will achieve the required score to pass this first stage of the admission process.

The second Academic Aptitude Test is scheduled for October 24. This exam will be open to students who previously registered and those who did not pass the initial test. To support these applicants, the UTP will offer preparatory courses one month before the second test, aiming to reinforce their knowledge and skills.

UTP Rector Ángela Laguna was present during the testing day. She addressed the faculty and administrative staff overseeing the exams and toured the Campus Central facilities to monitor the evaluation's progress and support the admission team. The university recently awarded a $28 million project for the construction of student dormitories, highlighting ongoing development efforts.
