Over 82 structures damaged, 5 schools affected by windstorm in Gulmi

Gulmi district in Nepal is reeling from the impact of severe windstorms and rainfall that have caused widespread damage to property. Over 82 structures have been affected, with five schools and educational institutions also suffering damage, according to the District Police Office. Fortunately, the storm on Monday night did not result in any human or livestock casualties.

More than 82 structures across the district have been damaged so far, while five schools and educational institutions have also been affected.

The Malika Rural Municipality bore the brunt of the storm, reporting damage to 66 structures. This includes houses, sheds, toilets, cooperative buildings, temples, and schools. The tin roofs of Devisthan Secondary School and Bhairav Kali Boarding School in Ward No. 7 were damaged, as was the toilet roof at Suryodaya Basic School in Ward No. 5. In Madane Rural Municipality, nine houses and sheds were damaged, while Musikot Municipality saw three houses lose their tin roofs.

The tin roofs of Devisthan Secondary School and Bhairav Kali Boarding School in Ward No. 7 were damaged.

Further damage was reported in Chhatrakot Rural Municipality, where the tin roof of the science laboratory building of Shree Shringa Janata Secondary School was overturned. Isma Rural Municipality also reported damage to several houses and the complete loss of the tin roof of Suryodaya Basic School in Ward No. 4. Police teams are currently assessing the full extent of the damage, and the number of affected houses may rise as the assessment continues.
