Owner’s mistake: Dog runs alongside car and bites child

An unleashed dog running alongside its owner’s car bit an eight-year-old cyclist in the leg in Wichmar, in the Saale-Holzland district.

The boy suffered minor injuries in the attack on Friday evening, police said. The owner had allowed the dog to run free during what police described as an “unusual way of walking the dog.”

The owner now faces criminal proceedings on suspicion of negligent bodily harm. Police also reminded dog owners that a leash requirement remains in force.
