Oyo college’s NBTE approval intimidates those inciting students — Proprietor

The Proprietor of Iseyin College of Science and Health Technology, Sunday Owoseni, has accused former staff members of inciting students against the institution. Owoseni alleges that these individuals, who were dismissed for failing to adhere to accountability and discipline, are now working with illegal health and nursing colleges in Oyo State to create acrimony.

The core of the dispute appears to stem from the recent approval of Iseyin College of Science and Health Technology and the state College of Science Health and Technology, Eleyele, by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). Owoseni views this official recognition as a threat to unregistered institutions operating in the state, suggesting that those without NBTE approval are behind the unrest.

Owoseni described the student protests, which he claims are fueled by fears over the authenticity of their certificates, as unnecessary. He stated that the college engages with students regarding course accreditation and that they are actively working to secure accreditation for all programs. He also mentioned that students were advised to begin writing professional courses related to their studies.

From the perspective of the college proprietor, this situation is an orchestrated campaign by rivals seeking to undermine a legitimate institution. The proprietor emphasizes the college's commitment to discipline and due diligence, contrasting it with the alleged actions of the former staff and the illegal colleges. The proprietor's statements suggest a narrative where a reputable institution is being targeted by unscrupulous elements who fear losing their illicit operations due to the rise of properly accredited colleges.

The protest came from incitement from some individuals that we sacked when their attitudes negated the discipline and diligence that our institution stands for, we have accredited course and some courses that we are progressively working on obtaining their accreditation.
