Oyo Governor Urges Calm Over Kidnappings, Warns Protests May Aid Abductors

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has appealed for calm and spiritual support from residents, particularly the families of abducted pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area. He cautioned against public demonstrations at this critical juncture, warning that such protests might inadvertently embolden the kidnappers.

During a thanksgiving service in Ibadan, Makinde assured the public that security agencies are diligently working to track down the abductors and secure the safe release of the victims. He emphasized that public demonstrations could provide the attention sought by the perpetrators, potentially escalating the crisis.
