Oyo SUBEB denies exam leakage, threatens legal action

The Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB) has strongly refuted allegations of involvement in the leakage of results from the recently concluded Common Entrance Examination in the state. The board, led by Executive Chairman Dr. Nureni Adeniran, described the claims, reportedly made on a radio program in Ibadan, as false and misleading, warning that they could damage the reputation of the board and its leadership.

In a statement released in Ibadan, OYOSUBEB clarified its position, emphasizing that it had no role in any stage of the examination's conduct, question setting, production, or handling. The board asserted that any attempt to link OYOSUBEB, its chairman, or officials to the alleged leakage is completely unfounded. The administration under Adeniran has consistently upheld transparency, accountability, and professionalism, and the board stated it would not permit unsubstantiated allegations to tarnish its integrity.

OYOSUBEB directed that complaints or inquiries regarding the examination's conduct, administration, or outcome should be addressed to the Oyo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, identified as the appropriate authority responsible for the examination. The board reiterated its lack of involvement in the examination's administration.

While acknowledging the media's role in accountability, OYOSUBEB urged journalists and broadcasters to verify information before airing allegations. The board warned that defamatory statements or continued smear campaigns against Adeniran would result in legal action to protect the integrity and reputation of its leadership. OYOSUBEB remains focused on its mandate to strengthen basic education in Oyo State.
