Özgür Özel congratulates Turkey’s volleyball champions: ‘You made us proud through your fight’

Turkey’s women’s national volleyball team defeated Brazil 3-1 in the 2026 FIVB Volleyball Nations League final in Macau, China, winning the title for the second time.

The national team, known as the Sultans of the Net, previously won the competition in 2023. The latest victory brought Turkey its second gold medal in the tournament’s history.

New Party leader Özgür Özel congratulated the team in a post on X. “I wholeheartedly congratulate our national women’s volleyball team, the Sultan’s of the Net, who became FIVB Volleyball Nations League champions while carrying the crescent-and-star jersey in their hearts,” he wrote.

“You made 86 million people smile; with your belief and your fight, you made us proud. It is good that you exist,” Özel added.
