Padrino López assures Venezuela's food production is guaranteed despite earthquake emergency

Venezuelan Minister of Agriculture Productive and Lands, Vladímir Padrino López, has asserted that the nation's food production remains secure, even amidst the national emergency declared following a double earthquake on June 24.

During a visit to the Pastas Allegri plant in La Victoria, Aragua state, Padrino López inspected the agro-industrial sector's operations to confirm the continuity of food production. He stated that the sector has not halted its activities despite the emergency, attributing this resilience to the sector's commitment to the country. He also conveyed thanks to the agro-industrial sector on behalf of acting president Delcy Rodríguez for their contributions to earthquake victims.

Padrino López emphasized the significance of the wheat processing plant and its derivatives for national food security, noting that Venezuela ranks as the third-largest consumer of pasta globally, following Italy and Tunisia. He also highlighted the crucial role of farmers' councils in primary food production and their solidarity during the current national situation.

The minister's assurances aim to quell concerns about food availability, underscoring the government's focus on maintaining agricultural output even during a crisis. The visit served to publicly reaffirm the stability of the food supply chain and the dedication of those working within the sector.
