Pakistan and Kuwait Vow to Deepen Defense Partnership

Pakistan and Kuwait have reaffirmed their commitment to forging a robust and mutually beneficial defense partnership, building upon their historic and brotherly relations. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced the decision following a high-level meeting in Rawalpindi.

A Kuwaiti delegation, headed by Defense Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Saleem Al-Sabah and including Chief of General Staff Lt Gen Khaled Darj Saad Al-Shriaan, met with Pakistan's Chief of Defence Forces, General Asim Munir, at the General Headquarters (GHQ). The discussions focused on matters of mutual interest, regional security dynamics, and expanding bilateral defense cooperation.

Both nations expressed a shared commitment to enhancing institutional ties and broadening defense collaboration. The ISPR statement noted that the Kuwaiti delegation specifically praised the professionalism and operational excellence of the Pakistan Armed Forces, acknowledging their valuable contributions to regional peace and stability.

This meeting occurs amid a noticeable increase in high-level interactions between Pakistan and Kuwait. Recent months have seen exchanges between senior military officials and discussions aimed at deepening defense cooperation. Kuwait has been actively broadening its security partnerships in response to ongoing volatility in the Gulf region. Notably, Kuwait recently ratified a defense cooperation agreement signed with Pakistan in 2023, and its Foreign Minister visited Pakistan shortly thereafter, meeting with both General Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
