Pakistan condemns Indian minister's remarks on Kashmir, warns against underestimating resolve to thwart any adventurism

Pakistan's Foreign Office has strongly condemned Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's recent statements regarding the Kashmir dispute, labeling them "highly provocative and irresponsible." Singh had asserted that India would not engage in talks with Pakistan, stating that any discussions would only concern Azad Jammu and Kashmir, which he described as "illegally occupied by Pakistan." He also warned that any "misadventure" would be met with a response "beyond their imagination."

His statement not only distorts facts regarding the UN and internationally recognised Jammu and Kashmir dispute that remains on the agenda of the UN Security Council but also shows Indian government’s deliberate policy to threaten regional and international peace and security.

Pakistan cautioned India against underestimating the resolve of its people and government to counter any "Indian adventurism." The FO referenced Pakistan's military actions during "Operation Bunyanum Marsoos" last year as a demonstration of this determination. The statement also urged the international community, particularly the United Nations, to note India's "rogue behavior" and hold it accountable for failing to uphold UN Security Council resolutions concerning the right to self-determination for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

While resorting to its misplaced rhetoric of aggression and belligerence, India must not underestimate the people and government of Pakistan’s unwavering resolve and determination to thwart any Indian adventurism as demonstrated by the entire Pakistani nation and its valiant armed forces during Operation Bunyanum Marsoos last year.

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif echoed these sentiments, stating that India's attempts to alter internationally recognized legal realities through aggressive rhetoric cannot change the facts. He argued that such statements distort legal realities and do not contribute to regional peace, stability, or meaningful dialogue. Asif also criticized India's repeated efforts to malign Pakistan.

Pakistan urges the international community, in particular the United Nations, to take note of India’s continued rogue behaviour and to hold it accountable for its failure to uphold the relevant UN Security Council resolutions that guarantee the right to self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
