Pakistan Cricket Board Complains After Interview With Imran Khan's Sons Airs During Test Match

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has lodged a formal complaint with broadcaster Sky Sports following the airing of an interview with the sons of former Prime Minister and cricketer Imran Khan during the first day of the second Test against England at Lord's.

The interview, recorded at the iconic venue on the eve of the Test match, focused on the deteriorating health of Imran Khan, who has been in custody for nearly three years. His sons expressed significant concerns about their father's eyesight and voiced fears for his life.

According to reports from ESPN Cricinfo and The Guardian, the PCB considered a drastic measure: instructing the Pakistan team not to return to the field after lunch in protest of the broadcast. Sky Sports reportedly delayed the interview while discussions took place but ultimately aired it in full. By the time the interview concluded, Pakistan's players were preparing to resume play and did so as scheduled.

The PCB has remained largely silent on the matter, declining multiple requests for comment. The England and Wales Cricket Board was reportedly made aware of the complaint and assisted in ensuring the match continued without further disruption. Notably, Pakistan's state broadcaster, PTV, which holds domestic broadcasting rights, did not air the interview.

Meanwhile, Australian captain Pat Cummins became the latest prominent cricketer to publicly support calls for Imran Khan to receive proper medical care. He shared a post on X, echoing sentiments from former international captains who urged that the court-ordered medical assessment be allowed to proceed and that family visits continue, emphasizing that Imran Khan should be treated with dignity.
