Pakistan Train Bombing Kills 24, Injures Over 50 in Balochistan

A powerful explosion killed at least 24 people and injured over 50 others on Sunday when a train carrying military personnel and their families was targeted in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province. Local authorities reported that the attack occurred in the provincial capital, Quetta, as the train passed a railway signal.

An official stated that a vehicle packed with explosives rammed into one of the train's carriages, causing a significant blast. The train was en route from Quetta to Peshawar. The explosion partially derailed the train, destroyed nearby vehicles, and shattered windows in surrounding buildings. Military personnel were reportedly traveling to participate in the upcoming Eid celebrations.

Balochistan, Pakistan's largest province by area and one of its poorest, has long been plagued by a separatist insurgency. Local groups often accuse the central government of exploiting the region's natural resources without benefiting the local population. The Balochistan Liberation Army has reportedly claimed responsibility for Sunday's attack, according to Pakistani media.
