Pakistani police constable killed, another injured in Lakki Marwat attack

A police constable was killed and another wounded in a terrorist attack in Lakki Marwat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Sunday. The officers were on patrol near the Saeedkhel graveyard when assailants opened fire, according to police. Constable Sajidullah died in the attack, while Constable Muhammad Waqas sustained serious injuries. Both were transported to the Government City Hospital. Police immediately cordoned off the area and launched a search for the perpetrators. This incident is part of a broader trend of rising terrorism in the region. A recent report from the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies indicated a sharp increase in security personnel deaths in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during July. The report noted a significant rise in both security personnel and terrorist fatalities, though civilian deaths saw a decline in the province excluding merged districts. However, in the merged districts, civilian deaths increased.
