Panama City Extends Restaurant Hours Until 2 AM for World Cup Fans

Panama City is extending operating hours for select restaurants to capitalize on the influx of visitors expected during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Municipal Council approved a special temporary permit allowing authorized establishments that serve alcoholic beverages with food to remain open until 2:00 a.m. This measure, detailed in Municipal Agreement No. 144, aims to stimulate economic activity and accommodate the anticipated increase in patrons.

The extended hours will be in effect from June 11 to July 19, 2026. Municipal authorities believe this initiative will drive tourism, commerce, and recreational activities linked to the global sporting event.

To secure this special permit, restaurants must submit an application form, provide proof of municipal tax compliance, and commit to mitigating noise pollution. A fee of B/.500 is required for the authorization. The permit, issued with a QR code, can be revoked if establishments violate municipal regulations or exceed the approved hours.
