Panama concludes 2027 budget consultations with 96 institutions

Panama's Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) has completed its budget consultations for the 2027 fiscal year, engaging with 96 institutions over two weeks. The process, which ran from May 25 to June 5, focused on gathering the budgetary needs, priorities, and projections from various state entities.

The Directorate of National Budget received preliminary figures and proposals from each institution, analyzing them in relation to their planned programs and projects for the upcoming fiscal period. This comprehensive review aims to identify the necessary resources for the state's operations and national initiatives.

The MEF stated that the information gathered provides an integral view of public sector needs and will serve as the foundation for drafting the 2027 General State Budget bill. The consultations also allowed for an evaluation of institutional priorities to ensure financial planning aligns with development goals and public demands.

The draft budget law is scheduled to be presented to the National Assembly by August for analysis and debate, with final approval required before the end of December. The current budget stands at $34.901 billion. The ministry emphasized that this process promotes responsible and transparent allocation of public resources to meet the country's needs.
