Panama honors two Senan officers killed in Colón crash

A solemn ceremony was held at the Panamá Pacífico base to honor Miguel Santamaría and Martín Arias, two officers of Panama’s National Aeronaval Service who died in a traffic accident in Colón province.

The officers received recognition for their service and posthumous promotions honoring their careers and commitment to the institution. Public Security Minister Frank Ábrego attended, along with the directors of the National Police and the National Aeronaval Service.

Family members were also present, and the ceremony included moments of deep grief over the loss of their loved ones. Authorities did not speak to the media during the proceedings.

The investigation into the crash continues. A 21-year-old man remains detained on suspicion of negligent homicide. Preliminary findings indicate that the vehicle carrying the officers may have collided with a pickup truck driven by the young man. Authorities still must establish responsibility and clarify how the accident occurred.
