Panama men's flag football team advances to World Championship quarterfinals

Panama's men's national flag football team is set to compete in the quarterfinals of the 2026 World Championship, facing off against Mexico on Saturday, August 15. This high-stakes match will determine a spot in the semifinals and a chance to contend for medals.

The Panamanian squad demonstrated an explosive offensive performance throughout their three group stage games in Germany. They opened their campaign with a victory over France, winning 33-26. Quarterback Adrián Roux led the offense with four touchdown passes, primarily to Jayson Jaén, who had a standout performance with three receiving touchdowns. Roux and Juan Diego Julio also contributed scores.

In their second match, Panama suffered a defeat against Italy in a high-scoring game, with a final score of 36-45. Despite the loss, the Panamanian offense continued to perform, with Adrián Roux throwing three touchdowns and Dennis "Dezz" Allen adding two more.

Panama secured its place in the next round by defeating Great Britain 33-27 in a closely contested finale. The winner of the Panama-Mexico clash will advance in the tournament. The 2026 World Flag Football Championship in Düsseldorf is significant as it offers two direct Olympic qualification spots for both the men's and women's teams, totaling four places for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
