Panama opens applications for international AI master’s scholarships

Panama’s National Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation, Senacyt, has opened a public call for scholarships supporting international master’s degrees aligned with the country’s artificial intelligence strategy.

The program targets Panamanian professionals who hold a bachelor’s degree and want to specialize at internationally recognized universities. It covers up to two years of full-time, in-person study. Priority areas include AI engineering, data science and AI robotics, along with applications in health, logistics, finance, agriculture, energy, construction and manufacturing.

The call also includes supporting technologies such as big data, cloud computing, AI-focused cybersecurity and AI safety. Applicants must list three university choices ranked among the top 300 in specified international classifications, including the U.S. News Best Global Universities for Artificial Intelligence, the QS World University Rankings by Subject for Data Science and AI, or the 2025 Shanghai Ranking.

Funding will follow Senacyt’s allocation table, which sets maintenance stipends according to the destination country, region and university. Candidates who need to reach B2 English or the level required by their institution may receive supplementary financing for six to eight months of virtual English study.

Applicants need a minimum undergraduate academic index of 2.00 out of 3.00, evidence of research-team participation, an admission letter or proof of an application in progress, a motivation essay, three references and an updated résumé. They must also provide two financially capable co-signers if awarded the scholarship. Applications must be uploaded as one PDF of no more than 500 megabytes by 2 p.m. on October 5, 2026. An external panel of national and international specialists will assess the files, with evaluators assigned randomly to reduce bias.
