Panama police seize charcoal during operation in Altos de Campana National Park

Police in Panama's West region have seized 310 sacks of charcoal during an operation in the Altos de Campana National Park. The discovery was made during a preventive patrol conducted jointly with park rangers from the Ministry of Environment. Authorities inspected a truck carrying the load and found that the natural resource did not have the necessary permits. The charcoal was subsequently seized and is now under the custody of environmental authorities for ongoing investigations and appropriate procedures. Officials emphasized the importance of complying with environmental regulations for the transport and sale of forest resources, particularly within protected areas like Altos de Campana, which is recognized as a vital natural reserve due to its biodiversity and ecological significance.
