Panama's CSS Announces Air Conditioning Maintenance at Major Hospital Complex

Panama's Social Security Fund (CSS) has announced essential maintenance work on the air conditioning system at the Dr. Arnulfo Arias Madrid Hospital Complex. The preventive and corrective maintenance will take place on Saturday, August 22, and is expected to last approximately 12 hours.

The CSS stated that these efforts are crucial for strengthening hospital safety and ensuring optimal conditions for patient care. The work focuses on the cooling tower of the air conditioning system in the Specialized building.

To mitigate the impact on services, a contingency plan has been implemented. This includes reducing the number of patients admitted through emergencies and general admissions. High and medium complexity surgical emergencies will be handled at the Ciudad de la Salud facility on August 22 and 23. During the maintenance, the Hospital Complex will only attend to low-complexity emergencies.

Additionally, hospital bed distribution will be restructured, and a deep cleaning and disinfection of the relevant areas will be conducted before normal operations resume. The CSS anticipates that operating rooms will be fully functional again by Monday, August 24, following the completion of cleaning and disinfection. The institution assured that the contingency plan will maintain necessary patient care and apologized for any inconvenience caused.
