Panama’s national fairs grow by up to 25% as 2027 calendar takes shape

Panama’s fair sector is already planning a year ahead. The country will launch its 2027 national fair calendar on Oct. 16, the first time it has presented the schedule so early.

Kalizol Caballero, national fairs director at the Ministry of Agricultural Development, said activity had grown between 20% and 25% this year. Four new fairs have also been added, with their organizing patronages formally established.

The current season is not over. Events, particularly in the Caribbean region, will continue through Nov. 30. The 2027 calendar launch will take place in Cacao, in Colón province, with cooperation from the Panama Tourism Authority, MiCultura and the Agriculture Ministry. The institutions aim to promote the fairs domestically and abroad.

Caballero described the fairs as major economic drivers for local communities, saying, “Fairs are the heart that drives the economy of our towns, and people look forward to them.” Commercial demand appears to be supporting that view. Merchants have begun reserving space early, and some leading fairs are already receiving applications for 2027.

The Feria de David is reportedly full, while the Feria de Azuero has also recorded space rentals. Organizers are presenting the fairs as venues for economic activity, tourism, culture and family entertainment.
