Panama's Ship Registry Renews International Quality Certification

The Maritime Authority of Panama (AMP) has successfully renewed its international ISO 9001:2015 quality management certification for the Panamanian Ship Registry. This achievement, confirmed by Bureau Veritas following an external audit, validates the effectiveness of the AMP's processes and bolsters confidence among shipowners, operators, and users in the international maritime market.

Ramón Franco, the Director General of Merchant Marine, stated that the recertification signifies more than just meeting a requirement. He emphasized that it solidifies an institutional culture focused on excellence and delivering world-class services. "We are not just administrators of a registry; we provide with leadership and excellence a competitive service that exceeds the expectations of our stakeholders," Franco affirmed. He also noted that the quality management system enhances critical areas for the maritime sector, including safety of life at sea, maritime protection, pollution prevention, and internal process optimization.
