Panama's Walk for Peace Unites Santa Librada and Virgen de las Mercedes Images for First Time

In an unprecedented event during the festivities honoring Santa Librada, the traditional "Caminata por la Paz" (Walk for Peace) will see the images of Santa Librada and the Virgen de las Mercedes leading the procession together for the first time. This significant pilgrimage covers the five-kilometer route connecting the parish of Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes in Guararé to the Santa Librada church in Las Tablas, Panama.

Each year, the walk draws hundreds of faithful, including young people, adults, and entire families, who gather to offer prayers for global peace. This year's joint procession of the two patron saints is seen as a historic moment, symbolizing a powerful message of unity and hope.

This year we will have an event that we can say is historic, because the image of Santa Librada will be present and we will also be accompanied for the first time by an image of Our Lady of Mercy.

One of the organizers described the event as a "historic" occasion, emphasizing the unique participation of both revered images. "This gesture seeks to strengthen the message of unity and hope in the midst of the international context," stated a citizen, highlighting the event's relevance in current times.

Authorities have deployed a health and security operation to support the pilgrims. Ambulances, paramedics, and medical teams will be present along the route and at the Las Tablas park to provide assistance. The festivities continue with nightly novenas, and security agencies are preparing for the large influx of pilgrims expected for the main religious celebrations.
