Panama U-20 Team Accelerates Preparations in Mexico for World Cup Dream

The Panama U-20 national football team is intensifying its preparations in Pachuca, Mexico, as they focus on qualifying for the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup. The squad, led by coach Mike Stump, is currently undergoing rigorous training at the La Higa facilities, with 22 players working towards peak performance for the upcoming CONCACAF U-20 Championship.

The primary objective for "la Rojita" during this regional tournament, scheduled from July 24 to August 9, is to secure one of the four coveted spots for the World Cup. Adapting to the high altitude of Pachuca and fostering team cohesion are key priorities for the coaching staff during this crucial training camp.

As part of their preparation, the Panamanian team is scheduled to play a practice match against the Pachuca U-20 club on Thursday. This friendly encounter will serve as a vital opportunity for the players to implement the tactical concepts they have been working on and to assess their physical condition in the Mexican environment. Goalkeeper Alberto Ruiz expressed the team's high energy and positive morale, emphasizing mutual support within the squad.

Following their training base in Pachuca until July 24, the Panamanian delegation will relocate to Puebla, the venue for their group stage matches. Panama is drawn in Group C and will commence their official tournament play on Sunday, July 26, facing off against the Canadian national team.
