Panama U-21 Football Team Loses Opening Match to Colombia at Central American Games

Panama's U-21 national football team began their campaign at the Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026 with a narrow 0-1 defeat against Colombia. The match, held on Thursday at the Moca 85 Stadium, marked the opening fixture of Group B.

The decisive goal came from Colombia's Kener González, who found the net to secure the win for his team. Despite the loss, the match statistics highlighted a disparity in offensive efficiency. Panama controlled 43% of possession compared to Colombia's 57%. Panama managed only two shots on target out of 17 attempts, while Colombia recorded six shots on target from 13 attempts.

Panama's task is now more challenging as they are in Group B alongside Colombia, Costa Rica, and Cuba. Coach César Aguilar's squad faces a must-win situation in their upcoming matches.
