Panama weather: Cloudy conditions to bring showers to several provinces and regions

Panama is set to experience a day of varied atmospheric conditions on Tuesday, June 2, according to the Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology of Panama (Imhpa). The morning will largely feature partly cloudy skies, giving way to isolated showers and thunderstorms across different parts of the country in the afternoon and evening.

Along the Caribbean coast, the morning is expected to be mostly clear with no significant rainfall. However, the afternoon and night will bring cloudier conditions with isolated light rains, and potential thunderstorms with electrical activity, particularly in areas like Colón, northern Veraguas, and the Guna Yala and Ngäbe-Buglé indigenous territories, as well as Bocas del Toro.

On the Pacific side, early morning and morning hours will see partly cloudy skies with light rain in sectors of Darién, southern Azuero Peninsula, and parts of Veraguas. The afternoon and evening forecast includes cloud cover accompanied by isolated showers and electrical storms in regions such as Panama Centro, Norte, Oeste, and Este, as well as Darién, the Chiriquí Highlands, Ngäbe-Buglé, the Coclé mountain ranges, and southern Veraguas and Azuero.

Temperatures are expected to fluctuate between a low of 13°C and a high of 36°C. Winds will generally be moderate, with Caribbean flows from the north-northeast shifting to west-northwest, and Pacific flows from the north-northwest decreasing significantly in the afternoon. Maritime conditions are predicted to be favorable on both coasts, with wave heights up to 1.51 meters in the Caribbean and 1.21 meters in the Pacific. Imhpa also cautioned that UV-B radiation levels will be high to very high throughout the morning and afternoon.
