Panamanian driver David Carballeda heads to Barbados for GT Challenge race

Panamanian race car driver David Carballeda has arrived in Barbados with a clear objective: to compete for victory and place Panama at the forefront of motorsport in the GT Challenge de las Américas series.

After a track reconnaissance session on Thursday with his technical team at Bushy Park Barbados, Carballeda expressed his readiness to compete. He will be participating in the free practice session aboard his Mitsubishi Evo VI. "Today we worked on reviewing the car's technical details, and tomorrow we will take to the track. Ready to fight and, above all, positive," Carballeda stated. He is a two-time champion in the GTS Jr. category.

Panama is represented by a delegation of five drivers in this new stop of the GT Challenge de las Américas, which is making its debut in Barbados. This event marks the beginning of the second half of the season. In the GTS Jr. category, the Panamanian duo Alejandro Huerta and Sebastián Guerra will also compete.

The Panamanian presence extends to the V8 category, where John and Jacobo Chocrón will race in a Corvette. The GT Challenge de las Américas is a Gran Turismo (GT) car racing category featuring vehicles specifically prepared for competition. Its appeal lies in bringing together different types of GT cars and drivers for speed races, with formats that can be sprint or endurance races depending on the event.

This championship focuses on GT and sports competition cars. The series aims to develop GT motorsport in the region, providing a platform for Latin American drivers and teams and bringing high-level sports car racing to circuits in Central and South America.
