Panamanian footballer Michael Amir Murillo and Besiktas advance to Europa League group stage

Turkish club Besiktas, with Panamanian defender Michael Amir Murillo playing the entire match, has secured qualification for the UEFA Europa League group stage. The team advanced despite a 1-0 defeat in the second leg against Lithuania's Kauno Zalgiris, ultimately winning the tie with a favorable 3-1 aggregate score.

Murillo, who played the full 90 minutes on the right flank, contributed to Besiktas's progression. His performance included 82 touches, 51 completed passes out of 62 attempts, two key passes, and four progressive carries. Defensively, he won 60% of his duels, including a perfect record in aerial duels, and made six ball recoveries, three interceptions, and two clearances.

This qualification extends the presence of Panamanian players in UEFA competitions this season, adding Murillo's Europa League participation to that of his compatriots in the Champions League. The team's journey in the Europa League will continue after the official draw for the group stage, which is set to take place on August 28th.

During the match in Lithuania, Murillo registered one shot on goal and had two touches within the opponent's penalty area. He also drew two fouls, showcasing his involvement in both attacking and defensive phases of the game.
