Panamanian jockey Luis Sáez has etched his name into American horse racing history, securing his 4,000th career victory on U.S. soil at the prestigious Saratoga Race Course. The 34-year-old jockey achieved this milestone aboard the horse Rothschild, trained by Norm Casse. Sáez, who emerged from the Laffit Pincay Jr. Jockey Academy, expressed profound gratitude to his wife, family, and agent, acknowledging the unexpected nature of reaching such a high level of success since his early days. His career is marked by significant achievements, including two victories in the Belmont Stakes, the final leg of the U.S. Triple Crown. He won in 2021 with Essential Quality and again in 2024 with Dornoch, the latter being a notable upset at 17-1 odds. Sáez also boasts wins in the Travers Stakes, Kentucky Oaks, the Saudi Cup, and the Dubai World Cup, solidifying his status as a world-class competitor. His journey began with his first North American win on August 20, 2009, at Calder Race Course, and he has consistently ranked among the top jockeys since.
