Panamanian Taekwondo Athlete Brenda Brooks Receives Bronze After Asunción Results Reassigned

Brenda Brooks officially received the bronze medal from the 2025 Pan American Junior Games at the Panamanian Olympic Committee’s extraordinary general assembly on Sept. 1.

The medal followed a Panam Sports announcement reallocating the results in the women’s Kyorugi under-57-kilogram taekwondo event. The award formally placed Panama third in the competition and gave Brooks the medal on home soil, surrounded by sports officials, members of her team, relatives and members of Panama’s sporting community.

Brooks lost 2-0 to American Montana Miller in the quarterfinals, with scores of 0-8 in the first round and 1-2 in the second. Because Miller later reached the final, Brooks qualified for the bronze-medal repechage. She then lost 2-0 to Peru’s Camila Arenas, who initially won the bronze medal.

Panam Sports later reviewed the competition results and reassigned the medals, awarding the bronze to Brooks. The decision finalized Panama’s medal balance in Asunción, with one gold, one silver and three bronze medals.
