Paraguay's First Chicken Shipment to Taiwan Sealed, Market Entry Imminent

Taiwan is set to welcome its first shipment of Paraguayan chicken, marking a significant step in bilateral trade relations. The first container of poultry was officially sealed last week by Paraguayan President Santiago Peña, signaling its imminent arrival in the Taiwanese market.

This development follows President Lai Ching-te's announcement in early May to formally open Taiwan's market to Paraguayan poultry. The initiative aims to further deepen the economic and trade cooperation between the two nations. Paraguay, known for its robust agricultural sector, already exports beef and pork to Taiwan with considerable success.

Paraguayan President Peña sealed the first container of chicken destined for Taiwan last week, and Paraguayan chicken will soon enter our market.

Han Chih-cheng, Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Department of Latin America and Caribbean Affairs, confirmed the development at a regular press conference. He noted that Paraguay's poultry industry has been eager to access the Taiwanese market, and this opening is a welcome opportunity.

President Peña himself highlighted the milestone on social media, stating that the initial shipment consists of 150 tons of poultry destined for Taiwan. He emphasized that this market was established following his visit to Taiwan in May, underscoring the strong diplomatic and economic ties between the two countries. The arrival of Paraguayan chicken is expected to benefit Taiwanese consumers.
