Residents of Parentis-en-Born, a popular holiday destination in southwestern France, faced evacuation orders as a fierce wildfire raged nearby. The blaze, which began Thursday afternoon, threatened the town of approximately 7,000 inhabitants, forcing the evacuation of tourists from lakeside campsites first, followed by residents in areas closer to the pine forests.
