Park Hae-joon joins film 'Nambal,' to battle Lee Byung-hun

Actor Park Hae-joon is set to join the cast of the upcoming historical action film 'Nambal,' taking on the role of Miyoshi, the ruthless leader of a Japanese pirate group. The film, produced by Hive Media Corp, is scheduled to begin pre-production and aims to start filming in the latter half of the year.

'Nambal' is set during the early Joseon Dynasty and chronicles the perilous journey of nine warriors. Their mission is to infiltrate the Japanese mainland to rescue a captive from the clutches of the pirates. Park Hae-joon's character, Miyoshi, operates from Tsushima Island and is depicted as a cold-blooded individual who will stop at nothing to achieve his ambitions.

The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast. Lee Byung-hun will play Im Eok, the leader of the Joseon warrior team. Go Youn-jung is cast as Ae-ryeong, a woman seeking to rescue her sibling held captive on Tsushima after her family was killed in a pirate raid. Lee Do-hyun will portray Bo-gyeong, a vanguard member of the pirate suppression force.

'Nambal' will be the directorial debut for Lee Mo-gae, who has previously served as the cinematographer for critically acclaimed films such as '12.12: The Day,' 'Exhuma,' and 'Hunt.' The production is currently in its pre-production phase, with filming expected to commence later this year.

The addition of Park Hae-joon, known for his intense performances, is anticipated to add significant depth to the film's antagonist role. His portrayal of Miyoshi promises to be a formidable challenge for the film's heroes as they navigate the dangerous landscape of early 15th-century East Asia.
