Parliament monsoon session LIVE: Oppn to continue demand for discussion on CJP crackdown, Ram temple donation theft

India's Parliament is set to resume its monsoon session proceedings, with the Opposition maintaining pressure on the government. Key among their demands is a discussion on the alleged use of excessive force by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) during a protest march on July 20. Opposition members have repeatedly called for Union Home Minister Amit Shah to provide answers regarding the security crackdown.

Adding to the parliamentary disruption, the Opposition has also called for a debate on the reported theft of donations intended for the Ram Temple. This demand further complicates the legislative agenda as the session nears its end.

Amidst these disruptions, legislative business is also on the agenda. The Lok Sabha is scheduled to consider and pass The Bankers' Books Evidence Bill, 2026, and The Taxation and Other Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is expected to move these bills, which propose amendments to several financial acts.

Meanwhile, the Rajya Sabha is expected to take up the Supreme Court (Judges) Amendment Bill, 2026, for passage. This bill aims to increase the strength of the Supreme Court bench to 38 judges and has already been passed by the Lok Sabha. The Opposition has also voiced concerns over the absence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah from parliamentary proceedings.
