Part of Jan Rejžek’s leg amputated. The furious celebrity critic jokes he has finally gone too far

Jan Rejžek has lost the lower part of his left leg, but the Czech music critic and writer has not abandoned the dark humor that has long defined his public persona.

Rejžek announced that doctors at Prague’s Motol Hospital had performed the amputation. Even in the serious situation, he began imagining names for future programs and headlines that tabloids might write about him.

His post drew a humorous response from screenwriter and director Petr Jančárek. “Honzo, drž se, i když se teď budeš nejspíš trochu kácet,” Jančárek wrote, telling Rejžek to hang on while joking that he might now be “falling over” a little.

Rejžek is known for his sharp criticism of Czech celebrities, and the headline frames the amputation through that characteristic irreverence rather than solemnity.
