Partial closure of Avenida Faucett begins for Metro Line 4 construction, impacting airport access

A section of Avenida Faucett in Callao has been partially closed since Sunday to facilitate the construction of Line 4 of the Lima and Callao Metro. This closure impacts one of the primary routes to Jorge Chávez International Airport, necessitating temporary changes to traffic circulation.

The restricted area spans from the second block of Avenida Faucett, near its intersection with Avenida Argentina, leading towards the airport. While the closure affects traffic heading to the airport, authorities have stated that the opposing lane, typically used for traffic heading towards San Miguel, will be temporarily opened for two-way circulation during the construction period.

Avenida Faucett is a vital artery for passengers, workers, and transporters commuting daily to the airport. The partial closure means vehicles heading to the airport and those traveling towards San Miguel will share the same roadway. Initial observations on Sunday morning indicated the setup of traffic cones, but there was a lack of clear signage and personnel to guide drivers through the new two-way traffic system, causing some uncertainty among commuters.

Authorities have not yet provided a timeline for the completion of the work in this sector or when the temporary traffic diversion plan will be lifted.
