Partial Closure of Caracas’ San Martín Avenue for Maintenance Through September 9

Parts of San Martín Avenue in Caracas will close every night through September 9 as crews carry out road-marking and signage work. The National Institute of Land Transit, known as INTT, said restrictions would run from September 4 to September 9.

The work began at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 4, and will cover the stretch between the Plaza O’Leary roundabout and the Artigas Metro station. Crews will close only one direction of each section under intervention.

The authority published a daily schedule. Work on September 4 covered the Plaza O’Leary roundabout toward the San Juan parish, up to José Ángel Lamas Avenue. On September 5, the closure ran from the intersection with South Street to the Plaza O’Leary roundabout. Later sections covered José Ángel Lamas Avenue to Avenue 1, Avenue 2 to South Street, Avenue 1 to the Artigas Metro station, and finally the area from the metro station plaza to Avenue 2.

The INTT asked drivers to plan ahead, respect safety signs and use alternate routes while the work continues. It said the measures aim to support safer traffic movement.
