Party instead of classical music: DJ Alle Farben celebrates at Wagner anniversary

The Bayreuth Festival House hosted an unconventional celebration for its 150th anniversary, trading a star conductor for a star DJ. Around 1,700 attendees gathered to celebrate with DJ Alle Farben, whose real name is Frans Zimmer.

Unlike the traditional opera audience, attendees at this event were invited to dance in the rear section of the stage, overlooking the auditorium where opera enthusiasts typically listen to Richard Wagner's compositions. DJ Alle Farben expressed his excitement about performing in such a historic venue, noting the opportunity to present something new after 150 years of Wagner's music being performed there.

The performance is something special because Wagner has been played in this place for the past 150 years, and I get to do something new today.

Festival director Katharina Wagner welcomed the DJ, emphasizing that the unique evening aims to spark curiosity about the Festival House and Wagner's operas. She mentioned that Wagner's motifs are incorporated into the performance. For approximately two hours, DJ Alle Farben filled the historic building with music, marking a novel approach to celebrating the renowned Richard Wagner Festival, which began 150 years ago.
