Pati Community Forum Meets DPR, Urges Asset Seizure Bill Progress

Representatives from the Forum Komunikasi Masyarakat Pati, an organization uniting various community groups from Pati, met with leaders of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) in Jakarta. The meeting focused on several critical issues, including the progress of the Asset Seizure Bill, the welfare of fishermen, and the strengthening of social media regulation.

During the meeting, Lukman Hakim, representing the Legal Aid Institute of GP Ansor and the forum, specifically requested the acceleration of the Asset Seizure Bill's ratification. He also questioned the current developments in its discussion within the DPR. Additionally, Hakim urged the police to take firm action against unverified information circulating on social media.

Hakim also expressed the community's unease regarding recent events in Pati, including the alleged harassment of the Pati DPRD office and the prevalence of 'sound horeg' events in the town square. We, the community, NGOs, and mass organizations, are very restless," Hakim stated, questioning the state's effectiveness in managing such situations.

Deputy Speaker of the DPR, Cucun Ahmad Syamsurizal, acknowledged the group's concerns, noting that they represented a segment of the Pati community. He assured that the aspirations raised would be heard and addressed, particularly concerning the various problems Pati has faced in recent years. Syamsurizal did not directly comment on potential future protests from other Pati groups, characterizing differing demands as part of a natural dynamic.
