PBNU Invites President Prabowo to Open 35th NU Congress

The central board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) has formally invited Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto to inaugurate the 35th NU Congress. The significant religious gathering is slated to occur at the Bahrul Ulum Islamic Boarding School in Jombang, East Java, from August 27 to August 31, 2026.

PBNU continues to make preparations, with only 40 days left. Hopefully, everything will run smoothly and it is expected to be opened directly by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Prabowo Subianto. PBNU officially invites him to open the 35th NU Congress in Jombang.

Saifullah Yusuf, also known as Gus Ipul, the Secretary General of PBNU and Head of the Organizing Committee, confirmed that preparations are progressing smoothly with approximately 40 days remaining until the event. He expressed hope for a successful congress and reiterated the official invitation for President Prabowo Subianto to deliver the opening address. PBNU is actively consolidating with regional branches (PWNU and PCNU) across Indonesia to ensure all regional leaders can participate fully as delegates.

Gus Ipul urged all provincial and branch leadership councils that have not yet submitted the necessary documentation to complete their requirements promptly. He highlighted that PBNU is providing special policies and support, including mentorship and mitigation assistance, for branches in Papua and other regions that may face challenges in finalizing their documents for official decrees (SK). A dedicated team from the Syuriah leadership, headed by Mohammad Nuh, has been appointed to finalize all SKs for the PWNU and PCNU.

We hope that all PW and PC who have not yet completed the required letters or documents to obtain a Decree from PBNU can continue to strive and work hard so that the remaining time can be utilized as best as possible.

Furthermore, Gus Ipul advised all NU regional leaders and members to rely on official PBNU media channels and sources for information regarding the congress. He cautioned them against believing or spreading misinformation and hoaxes that might mislead the public. The emphasis is on adhering to official processes and verified information to ensure the integrity of the event.

Well, we hope this is ignored and all official processes carried out by PBNU are followed.
