PDP, ADC bigwigs defect to APC in Ogun carnival

The Oba Adetona Pavilion in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, buzzed with activity Friday as key figures from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and African Democratic Congress (ADC) officially joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Governor Dapo Abiodun, visibly pleased, declared the APC the dominant political force in Ogun State ahead of the 2027 elections.

Governor Abiodun welcomed the defectors, stating, “We are happy you have seen the light and you have decided to follow the light. You have become one of us from now on.” He detailed his administration's accomplishments since 2019, emphasizing infrastructure projects like over 100 roads constructed in the Ogun East Senatorial District, the Gateway International Airport, and the Olokola Deep Sea Port. He also announced upcoming road reconstruction projects, including the Ago-Iwoye–Ibadan Road, with support from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The governor highlighted Ogun State's potential to become an oil-producing state and the transformative impact of the Olokola Deep Sea Port and the revival of the Olokola LNG project on the regional economy. Abiodun credited President Tinubu for his support and expressed certainty that the South-West would back Tinubu's re-election in 2027, citing his national development achievements.

Ogun State APC Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, attributed the influx of opposition members to Governor Abiodun's performance. He assured the new members of equal rights and privileges within the party and urged others to join.
