PDP chieftain Daniel Orbih dies

Daniel Osi Orbih, a Peoples Democratic Party chieftain associated with Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, died on Monday, August 31, 2026, according to a statement from his family.

The death was disclosed on Tuesday in a statement shared by Wike’s spokesperson, Lere Olayinka. Signed by Francis Udukhomoi Orbih, the family statement described Orbih as a beloved brother, husband, father and uncle.

With profound sadness and a heavy heart but in total submission to the will of the Almighty God, the family of Chief M.C.K. Orbih announce the passing of our beloved brother, husband, father and uncle, Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, who passed away on Monday, 31 August 2026.

Orbih is survived by his wife, Florence Orbih, his children Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Mildred Omonemi Orbih, and other relatives. The family asked friends, relatives and well-wishers to remember them in their prayers as they mourned the loss.

Further details about his burial arrangements will be announced later. Orbih was identified as the PDP’s South-South zonal chairman and, in 2024, was appointed chairman of the governing council of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, by Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo.
