PDP insists on single leadership, cites INEC website

Nigeria's Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared an end to leadership crisis rumors, pointing to the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) website as confirmation of a single, unified party structure. Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the party's National Secretary, asserted that the PDP operates under one leadership, led by National Chairman Abdulrahman Mohammed. Anyanwu explicitly refuted any claims of a splinter group, stating, "There is only one PDP in Nigeria. There is no Abdulrahman Mohammed or Tsunami-led faction." He emphasized that the Supreme Court and INEC have settled all disputes, leaving no room for alternative leadership claims. "INEC has exposed those lies," Anyanwu declared, urging the media to avoid misleading the public. Beyond addressing the leadership question, Anyanwu lauded the current National Working Committee for bringing significant improvements to the PDP. He commended the party's youth wing and its leader, suggesting that the current leadership has revitalized the party, drawing comparisons to successful young leaders in Nigeria's past. Meanwhile, a PDP governorship candidate in Bauchi State, Adamu Usman Ahmed, expressed confidence that Governor Bala Mohammed cannot install a successor in the 2027 election, indicating ongoing political dynamics within the party's broader context.
