PDP promises Ogun voters better welfare

The Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State has promised voters better welfare if they support its candidates in the 2027 elections.

The party’s deputy governorship candidate, Hajia Yemi Sowunmi-Kolapo, made the pledge while addressing more than 1,000 PDP members at a meeting in Ijemo Zone, Ward 5, in Abeokuta South Local Government. She urged voters to support all PDP candidates, from the National Assembly to the State House of Assembly, and said the party was confident of victory.

Kolapo said Ogun politics had moved beyond the personal interests that had kept many people in hardship. She also told opposition supporters they would not be abandoned after a PDP victory. “We want to assure our brothers and sisters in the opposition, who know the truth but are running helter-skelter to protect their ‘soup pots’ that they will still be able to eat after we must have thrashed them at the polls,” she said.

She added that politics would not be allowed to break the bond among Ogun’s people. Kolapo said her acceptance in Egbaland and Ogun State predated her political career, and that the welfare of the people had always been her priority.

PDP deputy state chairman Biodun Ogunremi urged members to intensify door-to-door outreach to widen the party’s expected victory margin. Campaign council director-general Mustapha Owolabi described the 2027 election as a “done deal.” The meeting featured strong support from residents of Ijemo and highlighted the party’s grassroots mobilization ahead of the vote.
