Pentagon Releases Secret UFO Files, Including Cases Over European Waters

The Pentagon has declassified hundreds of documents related to unidentified flying objects (UFOs), offering a glimpse into decades of official investigation into unexplained aerial phenomena. The newly released files span a wide historical range, with some reports dating back to World War II, and include intriguing cases connected to Germany.

While the documents do not provide definitive answers, they underscore the U.S. government's long-standing engagement with phenomena that defy easy explanation. Luis Elizondo, a former U.S. military intelligence officer and head of the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP), was instrumental in studying these reports. AATIP focused on unusual sightings that could not be attributed to known aircraft, drones, or natural occurrences.

Among the most well-known cases highlighted is the 2004 incident involving the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier. During a naval exercise off the coast of Southern California, the crew detected anomalous radar contacts for several days. Objects appeared at high altitudes, descended rapidly, and then vanished. The situation escalated when two F/A-18F Super Hornet fighter jets were dispatched.

Pilots observed an unusually disturbed patch of sea, suggesting a large underwater object, directly above which hovered a white craft approximately 12 meters long. Described by one pilot as a "gargantuan Tic Tac," the object lacked wings or visible propulsion. When a pilot attempted to approach, the object accelerated instantaneously and disappeared from view, an encounter corroborated by radar data from the USS Princeton.
