“People have already laid out mats”: Fireworks fans camp under Seoul bridge a day early

Fireworks fans in Seoul have already claimed viewing spots under Dongho Bridge, laying out mats and preparing to spend the night before the Seoul World Fireworks Festival.

Photos and eyewitness accounts submitted to Newsis showed people setting up mats and camping chairs on shaded grass and riverbank areas beneath the bridge. One contributor wrote, "I’ve already laid out a mat and am getting ready to spend the night for the fireworks festival. The area under Dongho Bridge seems to be a great viewing spot."

The early arrivals began competing for prime locations even though considerable time remained before the main event. Authorities expect large crowds along the Han River on the day of the festival and are increasing on-site controls and personnel to prevent safety accidents.
