Peru Marks 205th Independence Day with Grand Military Parade

Peru marked its 205th Independence Day on Tuesday, July 29, 2026, with the traditional Gran Parada y Desfile Cívico Militar. The grand parade took place along Avenida Brasil, showcasing the nation's Armed Forces and National Police.

President Keiko Fujimori presided over the ceremony, which commenced at 10:00 a.m. with honors to the head of state, the raising of the national flag, and the singing of the national anthem. The civic-military parade followed at 10:15 a.m., continuing until approximately 1:00 p.m. The event highlighted the participation of various military and police delegations.

Authorities implemented total road closures along Avenida Brasil and surrounding streets in Jesús María and Pueblo Libre to ensure the parade's smooth execution. Areas near Campo de Marte and the Bolognesi roundabout were affected. Citizens were advised to plan for detours, with suggested alternative routes including Sucre, Tingo María, Salaverry, and Venezuela avenues.
