Peru: Over 600 kilos of aid delivered to earthquake-affected families in Junín

The Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations (MIMP) in Peru has provided more than 600 kilograms of essential donations to families impacted by a recent earthquake in the Junín region. Minister Edith Pariona personally oversaw the distribution of goods to residents in areas declared to be in a state of emergency.

The aid will be channeled through local authorities in Chongos Bajo, Pumpuya, Huayucachi, Chupuro, Viques, and Huacrapuquio, among other affected locations. These donations are part of ongoing efforts coordinated with the national tax authority (Sunat) to support populations facing emergencies and vulnerable situations.

This recent delivery adds to the substantial aid already provided. From January to date, the MIMP has distributed 33,746 items valued at S/996,985.42 in Junín alone. Nationally, in 2026, the ministry has distributed over 576,000 items across 22 regions affected by natural phenomena, with a total value exceeding S/15.3 million. The ministry is also coordinating temporary support, including food, lodging, and health services, for vulnerable populations, particularly the elderly, in the Huancayo and Chupaca provinces through the Beneficencia de Huancayo. Additionally, MIMP will bolster support for children and adolescents via social programs and provide psychological accompaniment through its Mujer Emergency Centers.
