Peter Jackson returns to direct after 12 years: "Script for new "Tintin" film is ready"

Peter Jackson, the acclaimed director behind "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, is set to step back into the director's chair for a new "Tintin" film, marking his return to feature filmmaking after a 12-year hiatus. Jackson, who last directed in 2014, confirmed the news in an interview with the film platform Gold Derby.

15 years ago, Steven Spielberg was the director and I was the producer of the Tintin film. The idea was that we would immediately start a second film after that, where we would switch roles: I would direct the sequel and he would produce.

Jackson previously served as producer for the 2011 animated "The Adventures of Tintin," directed by Steven Spielberg. The original plan was for Jackson to direct the sequel while Spielberg would produce, a role reversal from their previous collaboration.
