Photographer chases UFO 'ghosts' in French Jura mountains

Photographer Florian Luthi is delving into the French Jura, his childhood home, to explore the lingering traces of a mysterious event from 1954. His exhibition, "Fantôme Météores," presented at the Maison de l’enfance et de l’adolescence in Geneva, seeks to uncover the subtle, poetic remnants of what was then believed to be an extraterrestrial apparition.

The story centers on Raymond Romand, who, at 12 years old in 1954, was the primary witness to an unexplained sighting in Prémanon. Decades later, in 1991, Romand reflected, "From nothing, a legend can be born." Luthi has taken this sentiment to heart, embarking on a quest to find these "nothings", the faint clues and poetic suggestions that point toward the enduring legend.

Using a combination of contemporary photographs and archival materials, Luthi's exhibition aims to scrutinize the invisible and, more importantly, to activate the imaginations of viewers. The project is a personal journey for the artist, connecting his own past in the Jura with the enigmatic history of the region.
